Matt Mpnro, the Singers Singer July 12, 2010 Maza (Norfolk UK) this was an extra present for my husband and being a 50's music fan he loved it.
A great biography of a great, great singer June 16, 2010 Mr. A. Willis (Bath, UK) Very well written, very enjoyable. Quite obviously (and understandably) a work of love for the author, although she writes with honesty throughout and doesn't shy away from Matt's (few) negative points and bad deeds. I wanted more detail for some of the events, shows and recordings described, but to be fair, he achieved so much in his career that the book would have to run into several volumes to include the kind of detail I desired. It's quite a big book as it stands, but I was engrossed from the first page to the last and finished it in record time. If you're a Matt fan, you must read this. Frankly, even if you'd never heard of the man, this would still be a very good read.
A GREAT READ ABOUT A GREAT SINGER May 24, 2010 S. C. Honeysett (London) This is a real tome of a book reflecting the painstaking research and love of Matt's daughter Michele. His life both on and off stage is revealed in detail, warts and all, with lots of quotes from from Matt himself and the hundreds of people who knew him and whose lives his touched. The book is peppered with lots and lots of photographs, many never publicly seen before - and they are not just put in one place altogether like most books but appears throughout in between the text.
This is THE book for Matt's fans everywhere and for anyone who would like to get to know the man and his music.

Freda Gibson May 13, 2010 F. P. Gibson The book is absolutely wonderful, Michele has done a superb job, and has written this as a memorial to her father,s life. The photo and memories of his many fans, also at the start of the book when she tells us about his last day, brought tears to my eyes.
The book is as wonderful as the author herself
