Amazon.co.uk Review Proving yet again their willingness to dice 'n' slice their burgeoning legacy into new--if not exactly fresh--product, the Fab Four Minus One released this single disc compendium of their No. 1 hits. Though obviously superfluous to long-time Fabs faithful (who may also find themselves quibbling over the precise definition of "No. 1 hit" and the exclusion of seeming contenders like "Please Please Me" and "Strawberry Fields"), newly arrived visitors from the Pleiades star cluster and other neophytes will find it a concise and generous (nearly 80 minutes) single-disc introduction to the band's career-spanning, unparalleled dominance of pop music in the 1960s and beyond. But more than merely a trophy case of commercial success (and it won't be hard to find people to argue that these singles aren't even the band's best work), 1 is also a quick sketch of a remarkable seven-year musical evolution, one that stretches from the neo-skiffle of "Love Me Do" through a remarkable synthesis of R&B, rockabilly, Tin Pan Alley, gospel, country and classical that still defies efforts to effectively deconstruct it. --Jerry McCulley

One April 4, 2010 B Ok this misses out some of the good No2's and lower Poisitioned songs, Sgt Pepper, Lucy in the sky with diamonds and I'am the Walrus for example. But you can't complain because all these songs are brilliant and thats all I need to say because I leave this album, to go by the bands reputation.
The Beatles 1 Album October 1, 2009 Mr. J. Prescott I admit to not being the most devoted beatles fan but liked some of their songs so decided to purchase their '1' album as it contained most of the songs i knew. I found the album really good with countless classic songs from track 1 to finish. I'd definitely recommend this if you like the beatles and like their most recognisable songs.
neatles number one;s September 13, 2009 Keith R. Watson (uk) Please please me should be on this album because it did get to number one.
Anyone who was a round at the time would know that there were 3 music papers.
N.M.E Melody maker and another one , at least one of these listed Please Please me at number one, it should be on the album, but i'm afraid that Penny lane / Strawberry fields did only get to number two, shame.

1.....Ok...The Clue Is In The Album Title.....If Certain Tracks Aren't On Here, Then They Were Not Number 1 In Britain Or America....So Marking This Down Because Of The Absence Of Album Favourites Or Number 2 Singles Is Petty & Laughable!!!....
.......Every UK & US Number One Hit From " Love Me Do" To The " Long And Winding Road", Brilliantly Remastered, With Excellent, Informative Photos And Chart Information..........And A Quality Intro From None Other Than George Martin Himself.......Lovers Of ALL Music Should Own This..................
A great CD that takes you on a journey January 2, 2009 Jalelo Gram (Brighton, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What I like about this CD is that these are not the Beatles "greatest hits" we are talking about. There are a few in there however most of the hits take you on a journey of the Beatles' life as a band.
I have always loved the Beatles - my grandfather got me listening to them from the age of around five and i still listen to them today. A truly revolutionary band that I think will never be forgotten.
