The way this DVD has been compiled shows the amount of love, affection and reverence George was held in by those who really knew him. It's a great tribute to him.

I didn't buy the box set as I already have the albums contained therein, so I had not already seen this DVD, but as others have said, if you have the box set, this DVD is already included in it.

It's great to see this Dark Horse being given time to really speak and be listened to, and showcases the illustrious talent he contained and show what was being slightly hidden, overshadowed and sidelined by the giant that was the Lennon/McCartney partnership (not a slight at Lennon and McCartney; read my other reviews and you'll see I think they're all brilliant!)

This is a fascinating insight into George Harrison, as well as containing a couple of really cool promo videos you may or may not already have seen. I already have the SACD of George live in Japan, but there are also some videos included from that concert, so it was great to see bits of the show I've been listening to the last few years.

If you want to get into George Harrison's solo music after reading this, may I suggest the following three albums as your most essential listening and his best solo offerings (others may well beg to differ).
All Things Must Pass
Cloud Nine
Brainwashed

It's great to see some of these videos again after so long. I remember watching some of the videos released with the singles from 'Cloud 9' when they appeared in 1987 and I'd forgotten just how good they were. There's also some outtakes from the 'Live In Japan' tour which I hadn't previously seen, with George and good friend Eric Clapton playing up a storm together.
I'd forgotten how Monty Python-esque George's videos tended to be- especially in the videos for 'This Song'and 'Crackerbox Palace'. Equally bizarre is the psychedelia of 'When We Was Fab' and the British version of 'Got My Mind Set On You' with its dancing furniture. There is also some commentry from the man himself about the meanings behind the songs and his life. It's inspired me to buy some of the early Harrison albums missing from my collection. Highly recommended to any Harrison fan and also to those who just need reminding of this guy's talent.

Firstly I must warn all fans who bought the Dark Horse Years Box Set, that this DVD is actually the exact same as the Bonus DVD that came with the box set. So save your money.

As far as the disc is concerned, there is lots to satisfy fans of George Harrison. Promo videos from 1976 onwards, footage of George performing songs from Shanghai Suprise, footage from his Japanese tours, and some poignant moments from a host of interviews.

Alas there are gaps. Some promo videos are not included (True Love,Blow Away, All those Years Ago, Save The World)and the few excerpts from the Japanese Tour suggest that there is a lot still to get an airing. There are no Wilbury clips either.

The disc, however, remains a nice tribute to the "Dark Horse".

In the 73 minutes you get to know alot about George as the promotional videos of songs and performances are interspersed with George telling it as he sees it,namely - life is essentially about generating love, gardening & formula 1 were great interests of his and music was an inessential but enjoyable distraction at this time (namely 1976-1992 "The Dark Horse Years" that the DVD solely focuses on). You also learn of his close kinship with Eric Clapton, his love of comedy, his serious and thoughtful nature and his changing hair styles amongst other things. To the fan this is nothing new and you would have read about this already in his biography "I Me Mine". However the live performances of 2 solo numbers and "Taxman" that old Beatles classic will be more diverting to you. Other highlights include the 2 videos of "Got My Mind Set On You" and the promo of "When We Was Fab" (both very ELO/Jeff Lynne influenced). The songs from the film "Shanghai Surprise" are at best disappointing and the booklet it not as good as it says it is on the packaging although there is an interesting article on the evolution of the Dark Horse logo. Certainly recommended for fans but you have to be at least very interested in 76-92 era Harrison to properly appreciate it.
