OMG I WASTED MY MONEY! July 19, 2009 FUTURESTARdelux (united kingdom) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
sorry but this is the most boring film EVER!
the only good thing in it was lindsy lohan who acted well but was only in like 2 scenes :P
Leto is great April 20, 2009 Karina Wulff Harrestrup (Denmark) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Jared Leto is brilliant in the role as Mark chapman. He portrays the sick mind of the killer very well and his physical transformation is something he should be credited for as well. a very good film.
Tense. April 13, 2009 S. Melia 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Chapter 27 tells the true story about the murder of john lennon back in december 1980 in new york city.
We are introduced to his killer mark chapman very early on played brilliantly by jared leto who gained a significant amount of weight to perfect the role.
We are given an insight into chapmans loner type persona & his pathetic need to become as famous as his hero john lennon even if that means murdering him.
He is constantly at odds with himself as he considers murdering his idol & becomes obsessed with the book catcher in the rye.
The tension builds with every frame and it is quite uncomfortable to watch as you are aware from the start that this man will eventully cave in to his madness and murder a true musical genius & icon.
Lindsay lohan adds support as a lennon fan who hangs around the dakota building were chapman finally murdered lennon, she is fantastic as ever.
Overall a very tense, brilliantly acted reconstruction of a true tragedy that shook the world on december 8th 1980.

Firstly Yes I am a Jared Leto fan..Lets get that out the way!!...but if I had watched the film NOT KNOWING THIS WAS JARED LETO.I would never have known. He pulls off playing Mark Chapman so well, infact to me it was really creepy,I actually found Mark Chapman to be pretty disturbing. To see the meltdown that goes on within this man over the 3 days leading up to the event is fantastic. Mark Chapman is played out, pretty much how I would have expected him to be, his mind, infact his whole being.Jared has most certanily put a lot of effort into this and it is shown throughout the film. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. A lot of people wanted to get this movie shut down/boycoted..WHY?? As a human being I have NO feelings for Mark Chapman He deserves to be kept behind bars for what he did. but I think it is fair to let people see this movie, as I was only 8 years old in 1980. I had no idea about the assasination. Infact I'm glad I have watched it, and had an incite into this troubled man who took the life of a great man. I like the beatles and I like John Lennon's music, and I think this movie has hit the nail on the head. I do not think it could have been done any better.SUPERB.
Gripping With Shocks And Wonder. May 4, 2008 Ms. J. F. Gilby (bexhill, uk) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Chapter 27 needs more running time and a little more about the killer's background but this does well in my standards. Jared Leto looked like a stranger with 67 pounds of fat and darkened shades but he is stunning and powerful as Mark Chapman, this is his best perfomance ever needing a award for his effort. The other co-stars were quite surpising inculding the troubled Lohan as the young fan who may or may not have fallen in love with Mark. It was totally gripping with shocks and wonder especially when Mark killed John, it gave me shivers down my spine and also when the camera was pointed at his face. Very good, I would recommend it to anyone who loved John and wondered why this deeply disturbed man would kill a icon.
