A load of Spherical Objects. July 18, 2010 Guinness Lover (UK) If you want to see two men who should know better thinking it's funny to joke about masturbation, defecation, wind and all manner of peurile nonsense then this film is for you.
If you have even half a brain then find something else to waste your precious life on!
Awful, awful, awful.
Paul Rudd looks hideous and his co-actor absolutely repulsive. They are toooo old to be churning out this bilge.
This film Rocks! July 13, 2010 Franz_smithy Laugh out loud comedy! This is truly a stomach work out.
Great feel good film with something for everyone to appreciate. Highly recommended.
Not a bad film, just more actual jokes next time, please July 5, 2010 Mr. Matthew R. Meyrick 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Firstly, lets be clear on a few things. I LIKE Paul Rudd & Jason Siegel. Whichever film i've seen either of them in, be it the silly but incredibly funny Anchorman(Rudd), the funny but at the same time wholey believable Knocked up(both) or the also silly but commendable Fotgetting Sarah Marshall(Siegel), i've really enjoyed all of them. This film, however for left me with a very '50/50' feeling. Sure, it gets points for trying something new, where the relationship is the 2 guys rather than the guy & the girl but for me, it just wasn't funny enough. The formula was perfect, Rudd as the guy with the impressive job & Siegel as the lovable loser, should've been que for quick-fire jokes galore but for me they were few & far between.
Thats not to say its a bad film. The story goes on a fast paced rate, its fairly original & there is a definate 'bromance' chemistry between the leads but i still can't but feel short-changed on the humour side. Worth watching once, not so sure about again, though...
Instantly Forgettable. July 4, 2010 Ernie (Kent) `I Love You, Man' isn't a bad film; it's just not particularly good either. The story of a newly engaged man who realises he's great with women but has no male friends and embarks on a quest to build male relationships could have made a good story. The trouble is the storyline feels like a carbon copy of `The 40 Year Old Virgin' in which the writers have take the basic plotline and substituted the word `virgin' with the word 'male friend'. But the films real weaknesses are that as a comedy it's flat and has practically no laughs, and what little comedy is there is just based around awkward social situations; and as a male relationship film it's underdeveloped, shallow and towards the end just comes across as juvenile and corny.
In reality this is a film which relies entirely on the likeability of its two main leads Paul Rudd and Jason Segal who do a fairly decent job of carrying a fairly dull film. If you enjoyed films like `The 40 Year Old Virgin' and `Forgetting Sarah Marshall' you may want to rent this, though if you haven't seen the aforementioned films rent them instead, they're far superior in every way.
Superbly funny June 8, 2010 Frenchie (France) Bought this as a result of watching the trailers on DVD's. A real laugh out loud film, so glad I ordered it. Actually watched the film twice in the space of 5 days and could very easily watch again and again. Definately worth the money!!
