Amazon.co.uk Review Truth-in-packaging regulations are strained to the breaking point--some previous work with a former band was pretty darn "best" too--but if we're talking about Macca the Singles Artist, this compilation does highlight the many sides of a celebrated melodist, bandleader, and hit-maker--from the banalities of "My Love" to the electrifying buzz of "Jet". It won't win any stylistic cohesion awards, and followers will miss album tracks like "Picasso's Last Words" and "That Would Be Something". But All the Best collects the more popular Wings hits and throws in some necessary rarities ("C-Moon", one of many great B-sides that McCartney has thrown away), star duets (former friend, now-Fabs copyright-holder Michael Jackson on "Say Say Say"; Stevie Wonder on the inevitable "Ebony and Ivory"), live cuts (an un-Chipmunked "Coming Up"), and soundtrack odds and ends, like the freaky Bond theme "Live and Let Die". --Don Harrison

Lean October 12, 2009 Dave Gilmour's cat (on Dave Gilmour's boat) Remarkable cover design. No way was he leaning like that i.e. so causually on a guitar and at that unlikely angle. The guitar itself is only supported by Paul (via a strap), so how can he lean on himself? It would be aerodynamically impossible. Unfortunately it's another example of this great musical genius trying to present himself as a matey Man of the People. Everyone loves ya, Paul. You don't need to be their number #1 chum as well. As for the colour/black & white clash, it could only be the 1980s (Elton did it; everyone did it). Anyway, forget the sleeve and go straight to some of the best songs written by one of the best Beatles.
....Maybe I'm ( Still) Bemused!!!....2.75 Stars August 31, 2009 Tommo 18/7 (England) All the Best.....A Best Of Macca/ Wings Compilation Should Play Effortlessly From Start To Finish......And This Doesn't!!!..Over 20 Years On And I'm Still Scratching My Head Over This.....You Have The Brilliant " Jet", " Maybe I'm Amazed", " My Love" & " Pipes Of Peace" On The Same CD As The Average " C-Moon", " Ebony And Ivory" & " Listen To What The Man Said"........And That Bloody Frog Song, Which Still Hangs Like A Huge, Dark Cloud Over This Compilation.............The Dropping Of This Garbage Would Of Made Room For " Junior's Farm", " Hi,Hi,Hi" Or Any Bona Fide Macca/Wings Classic And Would Of Made This An Essential.....There Is Way Too Much Track-Skipping To Get Your Fix Of Quality On This One....Thank God That We Have Wingspan, Because This Is A Bit Of A Mess..........
All The Best (Paul McCartney) March 23, 2009 Adele M. Elgood (Loftus, North Yorks, England) Each and every track on this CD from "Jet" and "Band on the Run" through to "Mull of Kintyre" stands the test of time. Beautiful and enjoyable songs that make you want to sing along and takes you back to the era when McCartney ruled. I first owned this on LP and not having a turntable now, I couldn't play it. Best decision I ever made was to buy the CD and I was not disappointed.
Personal Review - Paul McCartney album, All the best March 17, 2009 Kenny B (U.K) Very prompt delivery (within 48 hours by standard post) received in excellent condition, both the packaging & the cd it's self.
Would use Amazon again to purchase.
All The Best? Not really! July 12, 2008 Guitar Heroine (Somewhere In England.) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Pro: All the songs you know and love
Con: Misses out 21 years of his career, not a lot of songs on this CD
Don't get me wrong. I have been into Paul McCartney for 20 years now. This album is a great introduction to him and his solo career, but an even better "Best Of" is Wingspan, which was released in 2001. It has more songs on it, and has a few more obscure songs on there. Furthermore, this album was released in 1987, and he has done 21 years of new material since then so you're missing out a sizeable chunk of his career. I do like all the songs on this album, but for me, I feel his best songs are his more obscure ones. My favourite Macca albums, which I will review all of on here over time are: McCartney, Off The Ground, Band On The Run, Flowers In The Dirt and Flaming Pie. Because you can pick these CDs up very cheaply on Amazon, I'd suggest you buy these instead, or if you do only want an overview, then I'd choose Wingspan over this album any time; better value for money as it's a double album.
Summary: For an introduction to Macca's solo career, buy Wingspan instead.
