| Customer Reviews: Actually Not all that bad July 22, 2009 Retro_Saiyan (Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The whole idea of Ringo Starr performing Christmas songs may seem a little odd, but the result is surprisingly decent. The well-known Christmas standards chosen fit within his vocal range and the originals, co-penned by Ringo (under his real name, "Richard Starkey") are quite enjoyable. As the previous reviewer notes, Ringo also performs a solo version of the legendary "Beatles Christmas" song "Christmas Time is Here Again", which here features a full and lively arrangement. Musically, it's what you'd expect: Ringo rocks on "Come On Christmas, Christmas Come On", is soft on "Christmas Eve", while the final track on the album, "Pax Um Biscum (Peace Be With You)" sounds influenced by The Beatles experiments in Indian-based music. This album, first released in 1999 was out-of-print for a while, but seems to of been re-issued under the "20th Century Masters" series, and has also finally come back in print in the US as well.
I'd certainly recommend it to anyone who likes both Ringo Starr and Christmas music.

Critics trashed this Ringo album and its been deleted in the States.
Which is where I begin to be somewhat puzzled.
I mean Ringo is the first Beatle to do an entire Christmas album and not only that but he does the Beatles song Christmas time is here again.
Little Drummer Boy is ideal for him as well. And the final song Peace be with you is as good as it gets-shoulda been a single etc.
In fact this CD is full of what I hear as potential singles or at least could have been before that terrible Pogues one was voted the best Christmas song
This seems to be a reissue of the I Wanna Be Santa Claus one and its got a new title
